Amidst the 2020 pandemic Kate and Matchume took part in an online residency, Making Tracks, during which they discovered a connection between their approach to both traditional music and contemporary composition. 'Tchopo' was written and recorded remotely for the residency and received positive reactions from both Mozambique and the UK. With the support of a DYCP Grant from Arts Council England, Kate travelled to Mozambique in September 2022 to record and perform live with Matchume. They recorded a 6 track EP with a full band featuring timbila and banjo, which is set to be released next year.
